Shanara Gabrielle has worked as an actor and teaching professional in New York and across the country. Most recently she’s joined the Saint Louis theatre and teaching artist community with 10 years of experience teaching in all areas of the performing arts and working as a voice and dialect coach. Shanara believes in the transformative powers of the creative arts!
Shanara has taught and continues to teach for many wonderful arts organizations including: COCA-Center of Creative Arts, Stages Performing Arts Academy, Great River Shakespeare Festival, Gilmore Creek Summer Theatre, The Leadership Program, Yonkers Shakespeare Project, Hospital Audiences Inc., Epic Theatre Center, Irvington Recreation, The Center for Transforming Worship, and PrisonArts. Shanara’s students have gone on to work at Grand Street Theatre, Theater at Monmouth, MUNY kids, COCA theatre ensemble, Tecumseh!, Lincoln Ampitheater, Millikin University Theatre, Emerson Conservatory, and more.
As a performer, NYC highlights include: Queenie in The Wild Party, Eve in The Truth , Rose in Meet Me In St. Louis, Olivia in Twelfth Night , Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream , Horatio in Hamlet , and the original New York Casts of The American Girls Revue, Lady was a Gentleman, War Bonds, and In The Mood. Regional Highlights include: Guthrie Theater, Great River Shakespeare Festival, Northern Stage, Hollywood Playhouse, Arrowrock Lyceum, and more. TV & Film Highlights include: NBC’s Conviction, CBS’s Guiding Light; independent films: The New Neighbor, Books & Beans, The Look, and Lucina; and extensive spokesmodeling and commercial credits. Shanara works with Hartig-Hilepo Agency in New York and West Model & Talent in Saint Louis. She is a member of Actor’s Equity Association and was awarded the prestigious international Princess Grace Foundation Le Vine Theater Award.
